After many rumours, the remake of The Last of Us for PS5 was finally presented. The title has targeted its premiere for this September 2. Of course, before going to buy the new version of the game for PS5, you’ll want to know how much the graphics have changed; scenes and characters versus the original story we saw in 2013.
For this, the YouTube channel The Bit Analyst has uploaded a new video comparing both games. Although we did not expect such a drastic visual change between The Last of Us Remake and its original version, it seems that Sony and Naughty Dog have given us a real surprise. Beyond some reused animations, the title promises a supreme level of visual detail on PS5.
The Last of Us Part I It not only offers visual improvements. In fact, if it were only for this section, Sony would have probably made a second remastering of the title. But no, although the title comes to tell the same story that we already know, its stages have been renovated; as well as the mechanics and the gameplay of it. The company wants to offer an authentic new generation experience, and one that is much more similar to what is seen in The Last of Us: Part II.
The Last of Us: remake vs original
One of the most important differences—and the first that TheBitAnalyst shows in his video—, is the improvement of cinematic scenes. While much of the footage in the original version was pre-rendered, this remake will use scenes generated in real time. That is, it will use the power of the console to generate them in a more faithful way.
Changes in the scenarios
This is another of the important improvements that it has received The Last of Us. The scenarios of the original version, especially in its remastering, were already excellent. Now, however, the new release arrives with certain modifications in the geometry, topology and models used on the same scenes.
The use of improved vegetation is also quite evident. To these are added the improvements in lighting and reflectionsand are part of some of the most noticeable changes that we can see during our games in the remake.
Improved enemy design
Enemies have also seen some pretty impressive improvements in The Last of Us Part I. In fact, it is probably one of the most noticeable changes you will see. While in the original version they were already grotesque and disgusting; the models have had a change in their design.
As you can see in the image above, not only new textures and colors have been added to the infected species in the title. Also we see a total redesign in the modeling of the samemuch more detailed and realistic than in the original version.
Visual character upgrades
This is the third point, and probably the one that we can enjoy the most on screen. After all, we spent hours and hours at a time seeing and getting to know Joel, Ellie and company during this adventure. Both characters, along with the rest of the cast, have achieved changes on a physical level.
The most obvious is probably Ellie’s. While the original facial design of the character was quite nice, it is true that she showed quite artificial features, coming to look like a doll at times. The version that we will know in The Last of Us Part Ifor its part, shows us a much more realistic and “childish” Ellie; what we would expect from a character his age.
Joel has also received a lot of changes, although we probably won’t notice the difference right away. Most of them focus on the character’s expressions, and also in the details of his face. However, this is also applicable to Ellie and company.
Bill, Marlene, Tess and Tommy They are some of the characters that we have been able to see in the trailer, and they also show great changes in their models and details.
More changes to The Last of Us
Of course, this is not all. The Last of Us Part I it has also improved the effects, combat and exploration within the game. This is possible thanks to the power that the PS5 is capable of providing.and this new version of the title could become a shining example of what we can see in the future.
We’ve also improved effects, exploration, and combat. Leveraging powerful PS5 hardware, we’ve integrated 3D audio, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers. Whether it’s the first time you play it or the umpteenth, you will have the opportunity to experience so much The Last of Us Part I like its prequel left-behind in a completely new way
