TweetDeck is still preferred twitter client for many. Although Twitter itself has been incorporating changes and improvements, TweetDeck is still superior in many ways, like the customizable columns that allow you, at a glance, to see lists, messages, the topics of the day, notifications, etc. And how on Twitter they follow improving TweetDeck, from time to time they offer the possibility to test their new version, TweetDeck Beta or TweetDeck Preview. Preview of TweetDeck in its Spanish version.
On the official TweetDeck account on Twitter they offer invitations to TweetDeck Beta. But they are numbered. You can try your luck to order one of them directly to that account, wait for the final version to come out of TweetDeck with the latest changes or try a simple trick that involves entering code into your browser. Nothing to write home about but it will allow you to use TweetDeck Preview before anyone else. Or at least, be among the first in trying it.
And if you don’t like the changes, you can go back to the current version by TweetDeck. But first spend some time. In addition to its aesthetic changes, which bring it closer to the default Twitter client, it incorporates some improvements for customize the columns and make this off-road client more accessible to the general public.
The great news of TweetDeck
To begin with, TweetDeck is designed to work in your browser. No need to download and install any app. Neither on your computer nor on your smartphone. you just type your adress and access an alternative client for Twitter. Official, free and more complete than the client offered by Twitter by default because it mainly allows you to see all the sections at a glance.
The version of TweetDeck they’re working on right now, known as TweetDeck Preview, TweetDeck Preview, or TweetDeck Beta, completely changes its look incorporating the redesign suffered by Twitter a few months ago. In other words, you can choose between three background colors and six colors for the rest of the buttons and other elements. You can also customize the preview of media elements and the width of the columns.
But let’s go to the highlights. The columns. If you try TweetDeck Preview for the first time, a wizard will appear to configure it. Or if you want, you can start from scratch. Basically you will have to choose the appearance of TweetDeck and which columns to add among the many available. You can add and remove columns whenever you want: lists, search, messages, explore, profiles, notifications, scheduled tweets, drafts, saved tweets…
Now, TweetDeck has a side column compact that gives you access to all sections of Twitter. In the TweetDeck preview, that column expands to reveal the Tweet, Add Column, and Search buttons. By clicking on the button in the lower left corner you can compact it. That column also includes an important section, column panels. It is a great novelty, it is used to create collections of columns and display them depending on what you want to do on Twitter. would be the equivalent to grouping tabs in the browser.
How to activate the new TweetDeck
But better see what’s new from TweetDeck with your own eyes and test how well it works. As I said at the beginning, to test the TweetDeck preview or TweetDeck Preview you need an invite that you can request from the official Twitter account. But if you don’t want to wait, you can try a faster solution which is to enter a code in your browser. Should not messing around with codes that they provide you with, but in this case it is a very simple code that is well understood.
First. You need Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or a browser based on one of them. For example, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, etc. I have tested TweetDeck Preview on Brave and Firefox and it works without any problems. Also in Safari. And the rest of browsers can not say more. Once the browser is open, you must enter the TweetDeck address by pressing here.
Next step, we will open the web console that most current browsers incorporate within the developer tools. In Windows it is opened by pressing the CTRL + Shift + J keys. And in macOS, by pressing the Command + Option + I keys. If it does not work, you can search for the console. In Firefox it is in Tools > Browser Tools > Web Developer Tools. In Chrome and derivatives, it’s usually in the dropdown menu More Tools > Developer Tools.
When you have the web console open, you will need to enter this command: “document.cookie = ‘tweetdeck_version=beta”. Without the quotes. Once the command has been entered, you will have to refresh the TweetDeck page and you will see the preview of TweetDeck or TweetDeck Preview. Now you can start customizing it, make it yours and try all its new features.
Going forward, every time you open TweetDeck in that browser, you will see the preview or Beta version. If you want to return to the final version, the one you are using now, you just have to click on More options. It’s in the first column. Among the available options, you must click on Exit TweetDeck Preview. You will be able to choose to exit the new TweetDeck temporarily and come back the next time you load the page, cancel the exit and continue there, or finally exit the new TweetDeck and return to the current version.
