Twitter keeps introducing more and more news, and we are not referring to the possible departure of Elon Musk after his infamous survey. Now, the blue bird’s social network has introduced a new feature. This is the square profile photos for verified business accounts.
These 1:1 format profile images join the various colors for verification badges that the company has implemented on Twitter. Another way to differentiate between the types of accounts that swarm within the platformAlthough it may take you a while to adjust to these developments.
Square profile photos are only available on verified business accounts with the gold badge. Those dedicated to other types of activities will continue to see the usual circular imagenext to check verification in blue for individuals and gray for government entities.
But the format options for profile photos on Twitter are not limited to being circular or square. There is a third option, the hexagonaland is reserved for those users subscribed to the Twitter Blue service who use their NFTs as avatars.
Twitter brings its inner turmoil to companies around the world
Of course, this change will not go unnoticed by companies around the globe. Let’s remember that the format in which an image is designed is very important when establishing it as a profile photo. After all, a small mistake could cause a distorted or poorly cropped logogiving a neglected look to your brand.
Now, Twitter users who have multiple accounts dedicated to the same entity will have to tread more carefully. Therefore, if the main account of your company has a square image, but the one of another company account that is dedicated to a specific section is still circular, you must confirm that the format adapts well to both options.
But this is not all. It seems that Twitter is taking note of the absurd multiple check marks released by Tumblr a few weeks ago. The reason is that Twitter is displaying a smaller badge that will be located next to the verification one. With it, brands will be able to show the relationship between their different accounts. In fact, if you touch the box, it will take you to the main account, as it happens in the profile from Twitter Support.
Elon Musk’s crusade began with wanting to democratize verification badges throughout the social network, but it seems more and more determined that the accounts are more different. In the old days of Twitter, knowing whether or not an account was official was a matter of a glance at its name. Now, it seems that we will have to see the name, its relations to other accounts, the colors of the badge and even the shape of its profile photos.
“All verified humans will have the same blue check, as the threshold of what is considered ‘remarkable’ is too subjective. Individuals may have a tiny secondary logo that shows they belong to an organization if verified.”
