Twitter is going through a period of profound changes since Elon Musk assumed full control. Now the social network Revue has closed unexpectedlythe newsletter service that it acquired at the beginning of 2021. Since then, it has maintained its operation independently, although some of its tools have been integrated into Twitter to boost its commitment to newsletters.
Those led by Elon Musk have not specified the reasons for the closure, but it is very likely that they preferred integrate everything in a single newsletter platform to have more control and order. Recall that Twitter Blue, the renewed subscription service, was relaunched this week in various parts of the world after its initial fiasco. From the company itself they have indicated that they will integrate more features over time. So it should come as no surprise that Revue’s solutions will be appearing soon on Twitter Blue.
“In January 2021, Twitter purchased Revue as part of an ongoing commitment to improve the Twitter experience for writers around the world. Our goal has always been to make it easier for these writers to connect with their readers and future subscribers on Twitter, opening new opportunities for readers to better connect with writers and their content. Revue’s Twitter integration has provided a lot of valuereporting on new product features that give writers more options to connect with their audiences,” says the release.
In Revue they recognize that it has been a difficult decision, mainly because they had consolidated an important user base. The latter, unfortunately they will have to look for a new service if they don’t want to get on the roller coaster that is Twitter today.
“This has been a difficult decision because we know that Revue has a passionate user base. We appreciate everyone who has used our service over the years and look forward to continuing to help them build a community with their readers on Twitter.”
