Tesla has announced this Tuesday, August 29, that, between 9 in the morning and 11:59 p.m. of that day, all electric vehicles will be able to charge for free at any of the Superchargers that the company has distributed throughout Europe.
The reason behind this move is none other than the celebration of the tenth anniversary of Tesla’s charging network in Europe, which started in 2013 in Norway with the first six Superchargers. According to the brand, that same network now covers 36 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with more than 1,000,000 stations and 13,000 individual Superchargers.
The brand specifies that, in order to benefit from the gratuity, the upload session must start between 9:00 a.m. CEST and 11:59 p.m. CEST on August 29. This promotion will be valid in Superchargers located in Spain, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland , Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Electric vehicles manufactured by other brands will also be able to recharge for free at the aforementioned Tesla Superchargers today.
Tesla’s Supercharger network continues to expand and improve
In Europe, Tesla’s charging network offers up to 250 kW of powerAlthough the most valued by electric car owners is the reliability of the infrastructure, operational 99.95% of the time, according to the brand itself.
In 2021, the brand began to progressively open its charging network, thus allowing owners of an electric vehicle manufactured by another brand to make use of its network. Some two years later, more than 70% of Superchargers have been upgraded for this purpose (more than 9,200 points and 660 stations).
Looking ahead, Tesla has begun installing the first V4 Superchargers, whose main novelty is the increase in maximum power up to 350 kW. Also noteworthy is the inclusion of card payment terminals in the charger itself. In this way, the requirement to install the Tesla application to make use of its charging network disappears and the process is significantly simplified.
