Since its official reveal late last month, The Last of Us Part I, the remake of the beloved Naughty Dog game, has been the focus of various conversations and controversies regarding the price of this product. Considering that this job costs $70 dollars, many consider that the project is just a way to make quick money by PlayStation. However, a developer assures that this is not the case.
Through his Twitter account, Robert Morrison, an animator from Bend Studio who also has credits in The Last of Us Part I, has pointed out that the improvements and the level of detail are so meticulous, that he had never worked on a project of this style in his entire career, thus defending the price of the game. This is what he commented on it:
“’Not to take your money’
It is actually the most meticulously constructed and elaborate project I have ever seen or been a part of in my entire career. The highest level of care and attention to detail possible.
The price of the game is out of my control and the value is subjective to each individual. You can decide for yourself if you want it or not. All I’m saying is that I’m in awe of the work that an amazing group of people did on the project. A tremendous amount of passion was put into it.”

The Last of Us Part I it does not have additional content or substantial changes to the story. Instead, this remake is focused on improving the visual aspectand add various gameplay elements that we saw in The Last of Us Part II, like a better artificial intelligence. For some this is enough, but for others this is not worth the price of admission.
Many have pointed out that the lack of new content, as well as the fact that this is the game’s third release at full price, makes the price too high, unless when we talk about the PS5 versionsince we remember that the title will also come to PC in the future.
The Last of Us Part I will arrive on PS5 on September 2, 2022, and PC in an undetermined future. In related topics, here you can check a comparison between the original game and its remake. Similarly, this is the weight of this title.
Editor’s note:
A remake requires a lot of work. Although the value of a game for many is related to the content and the hours of play, we must not forget all the work that the visual section requires and the creation of a quite fun and complex game system.
