It seems that Call of Duty is staying on PlayStation.
With almost two decades of history, Call of Duty is one of the most lucrative sagas in the video game industrytaking this to the fact that every year we have a new game in stores that, in general, reach the consoles that are available from PlayStation, Xbox and PC, this being something that has worked since practically 2003 and that has managed to bring great benefits to Microsoft and Sony.
Despite this, it seems that the next Call of Duty titles they are on the tightrope regarding Sony, since the purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft at the beginning of this year means that the war saga becomes part of Xboxbeing a much discussed debate if the next titles will become exclusive, this being something that in the past they have deniedbeing now when they have reiterated it.
Call of Duty will still come out on PlayStation consoles
Thus, Microsoft has explained in a statement to a Brazilian body to do this it would not be profitable in case of not going out for competing consoles, since the sales reported by games like Call of Duty on PlayStation are too high. Therefore, after having confirmed the paid content of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, it seems that we will continue to see the titles on Sony consoles for years to come.
Of course, despite what has been said, this does not mean that in the past Microsoft has hinted that they may not keep annual releases, This being something that over time is wearing down the franchise a lot. For all these reasons, Call of Duty games may not stop coming out on PlayStation consoles, but it is possible that these are no longer in stores every October or November. Only time will tell.
For the rest, it should be noted that, after announcing the dates of its betas, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
