Some of the songs included are “No Roots”, belonging to Alice Merton, and the piano song “Pieces”, by Danilo Stankovic.
The album will reach the streaming platforms available in the market and, in the same way, it will be released in physical format.
Some of the most viral songs that emerged on TikTok will be collected in an album that will be shared on the platforms of streaming and will venture into the music and record market.
The social network originally from China came to the market in 2016, developed by ByteDance, and in just five years it managed to exceed the barrier of one billion monthly active users, a fact that places it as one of the winning platforms of the pandemic.
On the other hand, also in 2021, CloudFlare data indicates that TikTok became the most searched site on the internetpassing over the giants such as Google, Amazon, Facebook, among others.
Today, although it is true that it is not the most used social network, we talk about TikTok being the most popular, and proof of this are the videos that, day after day, become viral, demonstrating its great reach.
Now, in addition to being a platform for short videos, TikTok has served to make several songs viral, as is the case with “As It Was”, by the British Harry Styleswhich is one of the most popular topics on the social network.
In this way, the platform developed by ByteDance has decided to launch an album in which it will compile a total of 18 songs, the most viral on the social network, but in an orchestral version.
The project is named “TikTok Classics: Meme and Viral Hits” and includes songs like “No Roots”, by the singer Alice Merton, or the piano song “Pieces”, by Danilo Stankovic, both seen by more than 3.4 million users, as well as “Monkeys Spinning Monkeys”, with a festive rhythm and with flute sounds, which has more than 27.1 million views.
Next July the first six songs of this collection will be released and will be available on all platforms streaming available on the market.
Finally, it will be in August when, both in digital and physical format, the album “TikTok Classics: Meme and Viral Hits” see the light as part of a TikTok project that seeks to give greater diffusion to the music that reaches its platform and, consequently, goes viral.
And it is that, a fact to highlight is that the window of the Chinese social network serves, among other things, to position artists and musicians from various parts of the world. This is what the study shows “Identifying the power of music and artists on TikTok”which reveals that At least 80 percent of users have discovered new music on TikTok, far more than on other streaming platforms.
“TikTok has revolutionized the way we discover music on-line. When today’s music is short, transformable and viral, it influences everything it touches: brands, users, producers, publishers and artists”, mentions said study.
This is not the first project with which TikTok has joined the music industry. Months ago it announced the arrival of its own distribution platform called SoundOnwhich, according to a statement from the social network, would serve to “empower new and unknown artists, helping them develop and build their careers.”
With SoundOn the idea is to pay 100 percent of royalties to music creators. Similarly, for global streaming services, the payment will also be 100 percent in the first year of the artist’s birthday, but will be reduced to 90 percent in the second year and thereafter.
It should be noted that artists will be able to link to other platforms available on the market, such as Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, Deezer and Joox.
At a time when the way of consuming music is led by the streaming, the market, as we know, is dominated by Spotify and its more than 400 million users.
However, in the midst of this panorama, one of the most recognized artists worldwide decided to create his own platform. We’re talking about rapper Kanye West and his Stem Player.
West’s idea was to use Stem Player to publicize his latest album, Donda 2, and not make it available on Spotify or any other platform.
“’Donda 2′ will only be available on my own platform, Stem Player. Not on Apple, Amazon, Spotify or YouTube. Today the artists receive only 12 percent of the money that the industry earns. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system,” the rapper wrote in a statement.
Currently, Stem Player has a cost of 200 dollars, much higher than the competition; Will there be any fans who pay such amount just to listen to the rapper’s music?
