At number eleven on Calle Marqués de Riscal, in the heart of the Chamberí district, a group of thieves took advantage of a pharmacy parallel to the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Coque to seize a loot last Monday of more than €200,000 in wine.
Only 132 bottles are the ones that have disappeared (taking into account that the Coque menu has more than 3,000 references and they keep more than 30,000 bottles in their cellars). A small amount that suggests that the thieves who took advantage of the closure of the restaurant for rest knew very well what they had to steal and that it was several members, seeing the number of bottles stolen.
It is not the first time that the thieves enter the cellars of a Michelin star restaurant There are very few types of bottles that would reach the black market in these circumstances and their origin is known with total precision.
This is the case of the Atrio restaurant (Cáceres), which already came to the fore in 2021 when a couple of robbers they took advantage of an oversight to steal more than forty bottles and take this precious loot, which is usually ordered in advance.
On this occasion, the type of bottles that have been stolen from the restaurant has not been revealed. Although Rafael Sandoval, Coque sommelier, has explained that among his bottles are some of the most expensive and exclusive references in the world, so it seems evident that it is a robbery for hire.
What is known is that took advantage of the night from Sunday to Monday for the assault, using the adjoining pharmacy, where police sources explain to the newspaper The country“from one of the windows of this business they entered the premises through the back door of the restaurant”.
