More than a month after its launch in China, OnePlus has presented the OnePlus 12, their new flagship that seeks to carve out a niche in the most premium range and, therefore, compete against models such as the Galaxy S24 Ultra or the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It also does so at a considerably lower price compared to the flagship phones from Samsung and Apple. In parallel, the company has presented the OnePlus 12Ra more affordable smartphone, but that doesn’t skimp on features either.
The OnePlus 12 is a very continuous mobile phone in terms of design. It is, in fact, identical to its predecessor, the OnePlus 11, with the difference that the photographic module is larger, as it houses new sensors. It maintains, however, the circular shape, and continues to be located on one of the sides of the back, making it appear that the module protrudes from one of the edges.
The front of the OnePlus 12 is also identical to that of the Oneplus 11. On its screen, however, we find very interesting improvements. The OnePlus 12 has a 6.82-inch BOE X1 AMOLED panel. It has a QHD+ resolution, as well as an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The brightness of the panel can also reach peaks of up to 4,500 nits; It is a considerably high amount, much higher than that of any other smartphone. For a quick comparison, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a brightness of 2,600 nits. The iPhone 15 Pro, on the other hand, reaches 2,000 nits.
The OnePlus 12 arrives with the latest from Qualcomm and a new telephoto lens
Such high brightness can mean greater battery consumption, which is why the OnePlus 12 is 5,400 mAh (with 400 mAh more than its predecessor). It also has a 100W fast charge. Regarding performance, the OnePlus 12 includes a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which is accompanied by 12, 16 or 24 GB of RAM, as well as 256, 512 or 1 TB of internal storage.
Although the cameras are not the same as those of the OnePlus 11, the Asian company has reused sensors from other of its smartphones, specifically, from the OnePlus Open, its folding mobile. This is the case of the angular camera, the main one, which is a 48 megapixel Sony LYT-808 sensor.
The OnePlus 12 also features a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, as well as a new telephoto lens OmniVision OV64B 64 megapixel, which is capable of taking photos with a 3x optical zoom. Of course, this OnePlus 12 maintains the collaboration with Hasselblad, which offers algorithm improvements and additional modes, such as a portrait.
This is the OnePlus 12R
In addition to the OnePlus 12, the company has presented in Europe the OnePlus 12Rwho is part of a family that until now has not left China and India.
The OnePlus 12R has a very similar design to its older brother, although it is slightly more compact, as it includes a 6.78-inch panel. In this case, also with an adaptive frequency of 120 Hz. The OnePlus 12R, on the other hand, includes a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with 16 GB of RAM, as well as an internal storage of 256 GB. Its battery is also 5,400 mAh and it also inherits 100W charging.
On the other hand, the OnePlus 12R has a 50-megapixel main camera. It is a sensor Sony IMX890. The smartphone is also accompanied by two additional cameras, although the company has not revealed more details about it.
