Roku, the company known for its streaming platform, TV software and streaming devices that compete against Fire TV and Google TV, has announced its first high-end Smart TVs with the aim of increasing their income and, in the process, facing manufacturers such as Samsung or LG.
According to Bloomberg, Roku plans to launch a range of televisions called the Pro Series during the spring of this year. At the moment, it is known that these TVs will have a higher resolution compared to the current ones – mid-range – that the company sells in some markets. They will also be available in three sizes, with 55, 65 and 75 inches and they will cost up to $1,500.
The objective, we reiterate, is compete against Samsung and LG, who also have high-end models for this price and who, in addition, include their respective operating systems for the television. Samsung is betting on Tizen, while LG has webOS.
Roku TVs will have other key features to compete against the two main high-end TV manufacturers. One of them is in its design; they will have a more premium look; They will be thinner than the company’s current models, and will have a completely flat back, so users can hang it on the wall. Roku has also highlighted that they will have better sound quality.
Roku already has its own Smart TVs
The company, let us remember, already has its own brand televisions with the aim of increasing income, despite the fact that 80% of profits come from its streaming platform, states the aforementioned medium. Roku, specifically, currently has two ranges of Smart TVs available: the Select and Plus.
The Roku Select Series They are available in sizes 24 and 32 inches (with HD resolution), as well as 40 inches (with Full HD resolution). The firm also has 4K versions available in sizes of 43, 50, 55, 65 and 75 inches. The largest model is priced at about $700.
The Roku Plus Series They are Smart TVs with superior features. They include, in fact, a OLED screen, and are available in three sizes: 55, 65 and 75 inches. The largest variant is priced at around $1,000.
