From the livestock-meat chain we support the principles of sustainability and protection of the environment. This not only goes through the care of the production processes, it is also important to advise the end consumer. Food waste is a very important “hidden” problem and an environmental problem that must be known and avoided in our homes. To give you an idea of how serious this is, wasted food in the European Union generates 170 million tonnes of CO equivalent.2 per year, which represents 17% of the EU’s direct greenhouse gas emissions. And although meat generates much less food waste than is produced in other foods that arrive at our tables, today we are going to talk about the use of the meat that we have left over.
Did you buy too much meat? Did you have a part of what you cooked left over? We suggest, whenever possible, take advantage of the leftover meat to make new recipes, avoiding throwing away food.
It is not necessary to reheat the leftovers, we can use this meat to make empanadas, it can be sliced or grated and dipped in barbecue sauce to make a sandwich. Leftover beef, pork, lamb, rabbit, or poultry can be chopped into mashed potatoes or served with bell peppers.
Today, we discovered three innovative, nutritious, and delicious recipes with our leftover meat.
Three delicious recipes to reuse leftover meat

Burritos offer you endless possibilities when combining the different ingredients that you can add to a wheat pancake. This recipe of Mexican origin offers us a great opportunity to reuse the meat in a simple way.

Stuffed potatoes
With a crispy and soft crust on the inside, you can fill the potato with various seasonings.
There are many ways to bake potatoes, wrapped in foil, baked on a tray, grilled or chargrilled. You just need to grease them with oil, season with salt and pepper. To finish, put them at a high temperature.
As for the cooking time for potatoes, this can vary greatly depending on the type and size. The result of a well-done potato is based on a crisp skin and a soft interior.
Using leftover meat to stuff potatoes is another great option to avoid wasting food. Let’s see the steps:

- After the potatoes are cooked, remove the filling, add the minced meat and the fried tomato sauce.
