Notionthe well-known productivity platform, is launching Calendar, your own calendar app that integrates with all your databases and notes. According to the company, the tool is more agile than all competing options. It promises fewer clicks and better organization.
Notion bought calendar app Cron in 2022. So this new tool is broadly the same solution with a new design. “The latest version—of Cron—will automatically update with the new name, but it will still be the quality app you love,” he explained. Rafael Schaadelfounder of Cron.
So the new Notion Calendar maintains key features like Calendly-style booking tools. Also, a command bar that can be used to quickly set up recurring meetings and the like.
The big news is precisely in the integration with Notion. For example, if you already use this platform, you can now create or link Notion documents within a Calendar invitation. You can also show in the application key dates or milestones that are registered in your database.
“To bring the world closer to a place where everyone makes the most of their time, we aim to incorporate the digital time layer into all aspects of Notion: notes, projects, tasks and more,” Schaadel highlighted in a statement. Notion Calendar is now available for Mac, Windows, iOS and on the web. An Android app is also being developed.
Notion Calendar integration with other platforms
The Notion app will allow you to sync multiple calendars. This way, you will be able to more easily manage your personal and work agenda. So, for example, it will automatically block reserved hours on all your calendars.
The tool is also designed to integrate with other platforms. You can create new Zoom or Google Meet meetings without leaving Notion Calendar. Support for other similar online services will soon be available.
The new calendar also lets you view items from your Notion database along with events from your Google Calendar. This way, you will be able to view project schedules and task deadlines in a simplified way. Still, however, it is not possible to import Google Calendar events directly into a database.
It is also not compatible with Outlook, a major limitation for companies that use the Office portfolio. But Notion says it is working to bring its calendar to new providers.
One of the highlights of Notion Calendar is its simple, minimalist design with light and dark modes. It is “useful and beautiful”, as the company itself says. “We’re reinventing what a modern calendar can do for you… And we’re just getting started,” Schaadel celebrated.
Notion has been working hard to enhance its proposal as a business platform. Recently, it launched several artificial intelligence features. Early last year, he announced the launch of Notion AI, an integrated solution within software to help its users improve their writing and approach projects with greater creativity.
If you write a paragraph, now just highlight it and click “Ask the AI” in the toolbar and select “Improve Writing.” The new feature is free, but requires a paid subscription to take advantage of it.
