Blizzard continues to face a number of problems stemming from recent allegations of harassment and inappropriate behavior. This has not only affected the image of the company, but has caused some developers and managers to leave the company. Now, as part of the information that has come to light by the close of the second quarter of the current fiscal year, it has been revealed that Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV have been delayed.
According to Blizzard, the company still intends to offer a substantial amount of content over the next year. Nevertheless, Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV, titles that were planned for sometime after 2021, will now be available later than planned. This was what was commented on the matter:
“We believe that giving teams some additional time to complete production and continue to increase their creative resources to support the titles after launch will ensure that these releases delight and engage their communities for many years to come.”
While Blizzard hasn’t shared a specific date, it is very likely that this means that these two games would hit the market until at least 2023. Hopefully the company decides to provide more detailed information regarding its release schedule.
On related issues, Vicarious Visions officially loses its name. Similarly, Bobby Kotick announces a series of internal changes at Blizzard.
Editor’s Note:
This goes beyond just providing a constant stream of content after launch. The change in personnel at the top, and the changes to the content after all the Blizzard scandals became known, also played an important role in this decision. Now we can only wait and see if the public is interested in these projects once they are available.
