This Saturday the Deputy Minister of Health, Alexander Moscoso, issued an important alert about conglomerate contagion of covid: 35% of them, at present, are concentrating on companies given that in the midst of the economic reactivation and the return to the offices, biosafety protocols have been neglected.
Moscoso explained that despite the low infections, which are historical compared to what had happened during 2021 when there were days with 30 thousand infections (currently they are below 2 thousand), a fourth peak could be caused by the Delta variant, which is much more contagious.
Although the vice minister affirmed that the vaccines have shown their effectiveness, he said that alone they are not enough. “They have a 70 or 80 percent ratio of minimizing risk, but if they are not addressed With biosecurity measures, there is the possibility that a part of the population close to 20 percent may have the disease ”, he explained. That is why the high official called on the business sectors to reinforce measures since, for him, “they decided to end the protocols.”
He also said that there are several conglomerates in restaurants where capacity is increasing and that there are great risks in closed places. Finally, the minister said that the 541 conglomerates that Colombia has are distributed as follows:
– 126 in protection centers.
– 80 community conglomerates (in neighborhoods, sidewalks or sectors).
– 102 in educational institutions.
– 67 in health institutions.
– 42 in prison population.
– 17 in the police.
– 14 in indigenous communities.
– 6 in the Military Forces.
– 1 in migrant population.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection reported, this Friday, September 10, 1,772 new cases of covid-19 in Colombia. In the last 24 hours, 53,446 tests of which 29,928 are PCR and 23,518 of antigens.
The report also notes that 49 Colombians died of the disease in the last 24 hours. In this way, the country reaches a total of 125,529 deaths from the virus since the start of the pandemic.
By aggregating all the figures, Colombia reached 4,926,772 infected, of which 22,424 are active cases and 4,763,695 correspond to positive cases that have already managed to overcome the disease. Regarding the regions with the most reported cases, Antioquia leads with 404 infected, followed by Bogota with 308 and in third place Barranquilla with 149.
This is how vaccination goes in the country
The most recent report from the Ministry of Health also indicates that, until 11:59 pm on September 8, they had already been applied in Colombia a total of 36,835,096 doses of the vaccine against covid-19.
According to the same report, the number of Colombians fully vaccinated, that is, those who have already received two doses of the biological, It currently amounts to 12,680,335 people, while 2,795,909 people have been immunized with single doses.
Similarly, a slight increase in the rate of vaccination was detected, where for the day a total of 177,240 doses were applied, of which 79,018 correspond to the second injection while another 2,143 were single doses.
