EFE.- The Ministry of Health of Mexico reported this Thursday 434 new deaths from Covid-19 for a total of 270,346 deaths, in addition to another 7,040 new cases to reach 3,549,229 infections, during the current third wave of the pandemic in the country.
With these records, Mexico remains the fourth country with the most deaths from Covid-19 behind the United States, Brazil and India, and the fifteenth in number of confirmed infections, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.
The health authorities recognize that, based on the death certificates, the pandemic would be around 400,000 deaths in the country and estimate that Mexico actually accumulates 3,762,477 infections.
Of this number, 79,983 are active cases, which have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and account for 2.1%.
In addition, 2,897,667 people have recovered since the start of the pandemic.
The average occupancy of general beds in Mexican hospitals is 41% and 35% for intensive care beds.
With regard to deaths, Mexico City -the focus of the pandemic- accumulates 18.4% of all deaths nationwide.

VACCINATION PLAN
The authorities also indicated that the vaccination program, which includes all those over 18 years of age, accumulates 94.14 million doses of the vaccine applied, adding 555,532 during the last day.
The report also specified that 40.99 million people have completed the vaccination scheme, out of the total 126 million inhabitants that the country has.
This Thursday Mexico received just over 2 million vaccines against Covid-19, of which 933,600 are from AstraZeneca, as part of the Covax multilateral mechanism of the United Nations (UN), and just over 1.1 million from Sputnik V second component.
Since the end of December 2020, the country has received 109.74 million doses of the Anglo-Swedish vaccines AstraZeneca, the Russian Sputnik V, the American Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna, in addition to the Chinese CanSino and Sinovac.
A week ago, the Mexican government estimated that by the end of October it will have received more than 120 million doses and before the end of 2021 it will have a total of 150 million doses.
