One of the big changes that we anticipated a few months ago was how WhatsApp was going to eliminate unlimited storage on Android for Google Drive backups at a stroke. Although it was a more than welcome function for all users, for a long time Google has greatly limited storage, and if you want more you have to go through the box with one of One’s plans.
Logically, the asset of having unlimited storage on Android would allow WhatsApp to be used as a mixed bag to store everything via backup, and although this was not its main function, it was used by many users. Others they simply take advantage of unlimited storage to keep their data safe. And the latter will not have to worry.
In the latest beta of WhatsApp for Android, a new functionality that will allow you to export WhatsApp backups to Google Drive so you can take it to any other cloud storage service, to your PC or simply to an SD card on your mobile.
Exporting WhatsApp chats will be easier than ever
It is an interesting way for those who have a huge WhatsApp backup on Android to have the opportunity to be able to export the data without losing storage (especially if they do not go to Google One) and to be able to start from scratch with more measured backups. at least without losing the valuable data that occupies the most, such as photos and videos.
As you can see in the screenshot above, the service will offer the opportunity to export the full copy. It includes, of course, the complete chat history, such as your messages, images, videos and other media files. Logically, if WhatsApp includes an option to export data, it will also do so to import it.
However, there are many pending questions. Will it be possible to import a backup from Android to iOS? And vice versa? In principle, with the arrival of multi-device mode, this should be a resolved issue, but the service for which is still working on it.
Be that as it may, it is always celebrated that a service as widely used as WhatsApp continues to provide facilities to save our data. Whether inside or outside the app.
