The silent hill lap it is becoming a more and more probable reality. After Capcom’s spectacular work with Resident Evil, it was to be expected that the developers decided to revive their best-known horror IPs. And there is no doubt that, of all of them, Silent Hill is one of the most anticipated. Despite being radically different from Resident Evil, Silent Hill has been establishing itself as a survival horror saga cult over the years; both for its stories, far removed from conventional terror, and for the legend that has formed around the IP after it has been standing for a whopping 10 years. After the recent leaks there are many questions that revolve around the saga, but without a doubt the most important is how many Silent Hill games are currently in development? so we are going to try to collect everything we know so far from the ongoing projects.
How many Silent Hills are in development? All tracks and leaks
1.- Bloober Team’s Silent Hill points to Silent Hill 2 Remake
(1/2)Just to say, the three Silent Hill games is true. Technically it’s four, but really it’s three. I know people don’t like “rumor hopping” after the fact, but if people want more validation, I’ll say that is 100% what I’ve both heard & seen. There’s a LOT more going on with https://t.co/bofiJtCpco

«The thing about the three Silent Hill is true. Technically there are four, but actually there are three. I know people don’t like the rumor thing, but if you want 100% confirmation, I’ll say that’s what I’ve seen and heard. There’s a lot more to the Silent Hill IP than people realize. And a lot of those projects go further than people might expect.”
With this cryptic message, the insider Dusk Golem has given a very important detail about the status of the Silent Hill IP: Konami wants to expand it to the fullest and there would be at least three projects underway. But there could even be more, either in development, planned or licensed. And, of these projects, perhaps the one that seems clearest is that of Bloober Team.
Bloober Team will cooperate with Konami to develop projects
The Polish studio announced some time ago that it had partnered with Konami for the development of several projects. Considering Bloober Team’s portfolio, it’s more than likely that this project will encompass Silent Hill. In addition, we know that the studio released a job offer months ago in which they suggested that their new title would have combat; something not seen to date in a game of this team. It has even been suggested that the game that Bloober Team has in hand is Silent Hill 2 Remake.
If true, it would be the studio’s most ambitious game to date and a game where they couldn’t make mistakes or have creative liberties, because most likely people will expect something from it. Silent Hill 2 (2001) that fulfills the same that we have seen between Resident Evil 2 (1998) and Resident Evil 2 (2019). However, it is undoubtedly one of the few studios that, right now, would know how to offer us a return to a classic Silent Hill.
2.- Silent Hill from Kojima Productions?
The second Silent Hill game in development would be the one we have already seen in the latest leaks. And it would not be a Silent Hill remake to use, but a “spiritual reboot”; a title that, although it belongs to the saga, is far from what has been seen so far and offers more creative freedom than a remake. Taking into account the leaked images and the characteristics of this game, it could be a Kojima Productions Silent Hill PS5 exclusive.
And this for several reasons: a modern artistic design, which fits with what Kojima has been offering for a few years, developed by Japanese teams and with the support of Sony. In addition, the visual design of this project, quite current and bright, does not fit at all with Bloober Team, which tends to be much darker, more classic and disturbing. Not to mention that one of these images has the signature of Masahiro Itōdesigner of Pyramid Head and member of Team Silent, who already commented a long time ago that, if he returned to Silent Hill, he would not do it with Pyramid Head, but with a “cherry blossom monster” very similar to the one in the design.
This game would also be one of the most advanced. As Dusk Golem has commented on Twitter, the leaked images date from 2020 and the game was thinking to go on sale in 2021, but ended up being delayed due to the pandemic. However, he is convinced that we will see something soon.
The new Silent Hill would take elements from the canceled Silent Hills
3.- Who owns the third Silent Hill? Will Microsoft be involved?
Finally, it would only be necessary to know who would be in charge of the third Silent Hill game or the third and subsequent ones, if there are more. Perhaps the Kojima Productions game is third-party, that Sony is only involved at the distribution level and that this third game is its exclusive. Or it may belong to Microsoft.
Silent Hill Debuts Twitter Account Following Phil Spencer
It would be hard to believe that a IP as Silent Hill was having so much movement, at a creative and development level, and that Microsoft had stayed on the sidelines. Especially with studios like Tango Gameworks, with Shinji Mikami at the helm, or Ninja Theory, who has already shown that he is capable of telling us depressing stories, with a high emotional charge, with little budget. So it could be that this third or fourth project belongs to Microsoft or that even Project Mara, which we hardly know anything about, is the code name for Microsoft’s Silent Hill.
Of course, despite how little we’ve seen of the project to date, considering that Ninja Theory is counting on a team of psychiatrists to develop it, it wouldn’t be surprising if it ended up becoming Silent Hill. What do you think?
