Google Bardthe artificial intelligence chatbot from Mountain View, will follow in the footsteps of ChatGPT and will try its luck in the field of paid subscriptions. While the currently available version is free, the company believes it can earn significant revenue from its tool by offering exclusive features.
During December 2023, Google presented Gemini, its next-generation artificial intelligence language model. They certainly didn’t waste any time and quickly started integrating it with Google Bard. This allowed the chatbot to improve its performance significantly.
However, Gemini is available in several versions depending on its capacity: Nano and Pro, while the Ultrathe most advanced and multimodal, will arrive throughout this year.
Well then, The Google Bard variant that Gemini Ultra will embrace will be paid. Developer Dylan Roussel found that the Google Bard website already hides some messages that anticipate a future subscription. A modal mentions:
“Try Bard Advanced for three months. Get a more capable large language model, with advanced reasoning and math skills.”
Although at the moment there is no information about the prices of Google Bard Advanced, we do know one of its main features. The company has internally named it Motoko. What is it? Well the possibility of creating our own chatbots based on Gemini Ultra.
“There’s not much about Motoko yet. However, suffice it to tell you that Google will allow you to create bots. I can’t say exactly what they mean by ‘bots’, if they will be shareable or anything like that. But yeah… Motoko is the codename of the ‘Bots,'” said Russell.
Google Bard wants to gain ground on ChatGPT
As mentioned above, Google Bard is following in the wake of its main rival in the market, ChatGPT. In February 2023, OpenAI launched ChatGPT Plus, a variant of its chatbot focused on the professional sector. Its price? 20 dollars a month.
Compared to the original version, it offers four key improvements. First, it eliminates the need to wait when servers are overwhelmed with requests. It’s also faster to respond and offers priority access to new features. As if that were not enough, since last November it allows you to create your own chatbots without having prior programming knowledge.
It will be interesting, then, to see what Google Bard Advanced offers. If you really want to “steal” users from ChatGPT Plus, you will have to offer additional features to your rival. Or, reach the market with a groundbreaking price.
Google is stepping on the accelerator to become a benchmark in the artificial intelligence sector. Although she was not the first to arrive—at least in the mass-use tools—she is being very careful with the steps she takes, so that she can obtain the best results in the shortest possible time.
In addition to dedicating efforts to constantly improve Google Bard, the company also wants developers to take advantage of its technology. In December they released the API to integrate Gemini Pro into Android applications. Surely in the coming months we will see the first apps with generative artificial intelligence functions.
