The scene with which the fifth episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022), the miniseries directed by Deborah Chow for Disney+ about the mythical jedi of the late Alec Ginness and, since the prequel trilogy, played by Ewan McGregor, could not be more unexpected for a couple of reasons. The first, of course, is that we had not anticipated that we would be given a flash back from the old days with the character training Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker.
And the other, that it is a memory of the latter as Darth Vader, something to which they had never dared starwars. Because the legendary figure of this villain has always remained psychically inaccessible, without one being able to know what he thinks at any time until he comes out of his robotic mouth. Which, in any case, is typical for someone like that, since such introspection is usually reserved for heroes like his teacher, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
This narrative mechanism is insisted upon to justify their behavior. But it’s not the only thing that this chapter brings us and that had not been done before in the veteran galactic saga created by George Lucas (since 1977): manipulate the circuits of a droid like Lola, affable like R2-D2 or BB-8 and belonging to the small Laia Organa played by Vivien Lyra Blair, and corrupting him into acting against the interests of his owner and her friends is also something new.
The intervention of a great talent in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’
With these two humble darings, one wonders if they did not come from a member of the team of Obi-Wan Kenobi that had not participated in the franchise until now. And he finds that the script of the fifth episode has been written by the usual Joby Harold, yes, but with the intervention of Andrew Stanton. And we owe him a large part of the originality of a few great films made by Pixar Animation Studios, from the very toy story (nineteen ninety five).
Under the rule of the Empire, Obi-Wan Kenobi undertakes a momentous mission

Apart from pure speculation, let’s admit it, about who has thought of getting into the head of Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader and degrading poor Lola, in a simple metaphor of what it means to introduce a possible jedi On the dark side of the Force, there is another siege of sith to a rebel base such as Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) or the last jedi (2017). And, frankly, it would be said that repeating with the Death Stars is already boring.
The best episode to date
But not. What this known situation gives us is the best sequence of how many we have seen so far in Obi-Wan Kenobi. From the intense conversation between the protagonist and Moses Ingram’s Reva, the brand-new New Inquisitor, who reveals her to us as a more complex character with very different intentions and a role than we thought, which prepares us emotionally for what is comes at us next.
The power of the composition by Deborah Chow and the vigorous editing that Nicolas de Toth has given us, with the help of the vehement soundtrack by Natalie Holt, and the moving sacrifices of Indira Varma’s Tala Durith and the hieratic NED -B they manage to provoke us genuine chills from its extraordinary dramatic energy. And, since the writers intend to link these serious events with the flashbacksit all makes even more sense.

The punch line of what they want to teach us about Anakin Skywalker’s personality as Darth Vader is quite eloquent, and the caliber of power displayed by himself, very impressive. But this delivery of Obi-Wan Kenobi all of the above is not enough, but it gives us another laser sword duel of the great villain of starwarswhose winner is predictable, and two swerves that further resignify the role of Reva and they leave us with a dangerous restlessness.
