The Pixel Watch is one of the products Google most rumored in recent years. At least since 2019, the Mountain View firm is expected to launch it, but until now it has never seen the light of day. However, the story would change this year, as photos have been leaked that allow us to see it for the first time in the real world.
Android Central published some photos of a smart watch that was supposed to be the Google Pixel Watch. While the images aren’t too revealing, they do show that the design of the smart watch It stays in line with what we saw in the renders unofficial ones that were published recently.
From what is seen in the photos, the first smartwatch in the Pixel family will arrive with a minimalist design. On the right side, in addition to the crown, there are two buttons and a perforation that would correspond to the microphone; while in the back you can see the sensor for the heart rate monitor.
The peculiar fact is the presence of a port at one of the ends where the straps are connected, although it could be a developer-only itemand not a feature present in the final design.
The user who sent the photos to Android Central also shared a post on Reddit in which he gave more details of the device and how it was found. On the Google Pixel Watch itself, he mentioned that the gadget did not have the straps on because they were in a separate package, and that the back of the smart watch seemed metallic, but that the sensation to the touch was as if it had a glass coating.
Regarding the dimensions, he indicated that the body of the watch has a diameter of 1.5 inches and a thickness of half an inch; and he also mentioned that the edges of the screen are quite important. Additionally, the images show the smartwatch compared side by side with the 40-millimeter Apple Watch and the 46-millimeter Samsung Galaxy Watch.
The Google Pixel Watch has been seen in the real world
The circumstances around how this unit of the Google Pixel Watch was found generate quite a bit of skepticism. The user who disclosed the photos indicated that the smart watch it was found in a restaurant, where someone left it forgotten; a friend of his who works there would have been in charge of keeping it safe for weeks, waiting for someone to claim it again.
However, no one would have returned to look for him. Thus, the person who leaked it, who was a self-proclaimed “tech nerd”, got hold of it to explore it in greater detail. The story has provoked all kinds of reactions, with many alluding to what happened with the leak of the iPhone 4 in 2010. Let’s not forget that an Apple engineer forgot a mobile prototype in a bar, which later Gizmodo bought and published in detail. This situation is remembered to this day as the first major leak technologyand for the legal implications it had on those involved.
But going back to the Google Pixel Watch, the subject in question mentions that has not been able boot it because it no longer has a battery. However, whoever originally tried to turn it on while it still had a charge and couldn’t get past a screen with the G for Google. This could mean that the operating system has a major bug, or that it is not fully loaded on the device.
As for power charging, the box that contained the smartwatch did not include a charger; Nevertheless, Android Central speculates that the battery could be recharged directly from a case, and even indicates that the Google Pixel Watch could support Qi wireless charging standard.
Ultimately, the first real look at the Google Pixel Watch doesn’t say much beyond looks. The device is expected to debut with WearOS 3.1 and be unveiled in May, possibly alongside the Pixel 6a at Google I/O 2022.
