On January 17, Samsung will present the next generation of its flagship terminals, the Galaxy S24. In the Android world, what the South Korean manufacturer has prepared to assault the high-end will always be relevant, especially at a time when so many other companies are doing excellent work.
Although there are still a few days left to officially know all its features, it is also true that Samsung, once again, has not been able to stop the leaks surrounding its new terminals. For months we have known a good number of details that, barring surprises, will be present in the three models that will see the light: Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra.
It is these leaks that have allowed us to know that the Samsung Galaxy S24 line will bet, rather, on a slight progression instead of a revolution. In the technology industry, “If it works, don’t touch it” prevails, and the reality is that the predecessor devices were already one of the greatest high-end references. Therefore, do not expect unusual news.
Another issue that cannot be left aside is that, whether we like it or not, the telephone industry reached a moment of full maturity years ago. The room for improvement is minimal and manufacturers are opting for more continuous strategies. Samsung is no stranger to this trend and we will see it reflected in the Galaxy S24.
Despite the above, it is worth reviewing everything we know about the Samsung Galaxy S24. Both in his lookas in the technical part.
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S24
In terms of design, The Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ do not change much compared to the previous generation. This is mainly due to the fact that in 2023 the company expanded its most recent design language to all its terminals. Consequently, it is completely logical that this proposal prevails for several years.
Based on renders and leaked photographs, the aforementioned devices integrate a flat metal frame, although the edges that join it to the terminal have a slight curvature to improve grip. The back, on the other hand, is glass and completely flat. It remains to be seen if this change has a notable impact on grip, since the S23 had a curved frame that made it comfortable to hold in hand.
Now, where we will see important news is in the highest performance model, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The South Korean company will say goodbye to the front panel with curved edges. Therefore, this mobile will have a completely flat screen. Those consumers who usually opt for the most powerful terminal have been crying out for it for years, and they have finally been heard.
A curious point is that, unlike its younger brothers, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will not have flat edges, but rounded ones. But not only that, the company will make a key change: will say goodbye to metal in favor of titanium. Does it sound familiar to you? Yes, it is the same path that Apple followed with the iPhone 15 Pro.
We already know the benefits of titanium in smartphones. Thanks to this material, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra should be not only stronger, but also lighter. In mobiles of considerable dimensions, a decrease in weight will always be welcome.
Samsung Galaxy S24 screen
As previously mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy S24 family will again be made up of a third of models. At first glance, the main difference is in the size of its screen.
The input device incorporates a panel 6.1 inchesFHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels), while the Samsung Galaxy S24+ grows to 6.6″ with QHD+ resolution (2778 x 1284 pixels). For its part, the S24 Ultra has the largest screen of all: 6.8 inches with QHD+ resolution (3088 x 1440 pixels).
In all three cases, the screens boast technology AMOLED with a maximum brightness of 2,500 nits. The refresh rate is again up to 120Hz.
Snapdragon heart, without forgetting the Exynos?
The issue of processors in Samsung’s high-end mobile phones has always been a drama, with the Galaxy S24 it will be no exception. Because? Again, There would be models with different SoC depending on the market.
It is almost a fact that the star processor of the three terminals, and also the one preferred by consumers, will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It is the latest of the latest from Qualcomm, so in terms of performance they will not be inferior.
However, there are rumors that Samsung could launch the S24 with the Exynos 2400 in certain regions. It is not that it is a bad chip, but it is undeniable that its performance is below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
We will have to wait until January 17 to find out what the company’s strategy is in this regard.
RAM and storage
We cannot talk about performance without leaving aside memory and storage. According to reports, the Samsung Galaxy S24 would be available in versions with 8 GB of RAM and 128 / 256 GB of storage.
For its part, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ would have a memory of between 8 and 12 GB, while the storage options would be the same as its younger brother.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra would have a base RAM of 12 GB, which represents an increase of 4 GB compared to the S23 Ultra. Of course, there would be a 16GB variant, while storage space would come in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations. Be careful, let’s not rule out a 2 TB model.
Photographic section
Without a doubt, many consumers look at cameras before anything else when purchasing a new smartphone. Samsung knows this and, apparently, the S24 is not going to disappoint in this section.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ will have a triple camera composed of sensors 50MP (major), 12MP (ultra wide angle) and 10MP (telephoto). Both models would also offer a 3x optical zoom. The front camera, like the S23, would remain at 12 megapixels.
But the one that really aspires to be one of the best smartphones on the market in photography is the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The most recent leaks indicate the presence of four cameras rear with sensors 200MP (major), 50MP (periscope), 10MP (telephoto), and 12MP (ultra wide angle). Of course, it seems that the optical zoom will remain at 5x, thus contrasting with the first information that anticipated 10x magnification. And your camera selfies? It also stays at 12 MP.
Battery
Autonomy is a critical point in any smartphone. Fortunately, Samsung has accustomed us to good numbers in this section. This would be the battery capacity of each model:
- S24: 4,000 mAh
- S24+: 4,900 mAh
- S24 Ultra: 5,000 mAh
Samsung Galaxy S24 prices
Everything indicates that the Samsung Galaxy S24 They will have a pricing scheme very similar to those of their predecessors. We can expect, then, starting figures close to the following:
- S24: from 959 euros or 799 dollars
