Although the stories about chemtrails They have not disappeared at any time, it seems that, at least in Spain, they have fully returned to the limelight. This is due to the consultation launched to the Government by the deputy Pablo Cambronero. The former member of Ciudadanos has been in the news repeatedly in recent months. He first for leaving the party, but not the seat he held in Congress. Later, for being the only Deputy, beyond VOX, who supported Tamames’ motion of no confidence. And, now, for this curious query that, as he has explained on social networks, is due to the doubts and concern of the Spanish population.
So it says in the document that has made public through Twitter: “Is the government manipulating the weather through aerial spraying of chemicals?” “If so, what products, modes, systems and means is the Government using for this manipulation?”
As expected, the consultation has given wings to the advocates of the chemtrails conspiracy. It doesn’t matter that scientists have been denying its existence for years. A politician without scientific training sows doubt and everything is blown up again. But are there really reasons for such a stir?
No, chemtrails don’t exist.
They are known as contrails contrails that appear in the sky as a result of the flue gas condensation of aircraft engines.
This is the scientific term. However, there are people who think that it is the result of deliberate spraying from the air. In that case, they are known as chemtrails. The defenders of this conspiracy allege that this fumigation can be carried out with two objectives. For one thing, they might be thrown at people on Earth substances for hidden purposes. This can occur, for example, to cause sterility and thus control the population. Also, at the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, it was even said that the vaccine was being dropped from the air to immunize the undecided.
On the other hand, some people say that the chemtrails are the result of a maneuver to remove the clouds and keep it from raining. Thus, supposedly, farmers would have to buy seeds designed to resist drought.
In 2016, a team of 77 scientific experts in atmospheric sciences and geochemistry met to analyze the possibility of the existence of chemtrails. 76 of them concluded that there is no scientific evidence of no hidden fumigation program. The other only acknowledged that he had found barium samples whose provenance he could not explain. Therefore, fumigation is not ruled out, but there is no evidence to support it either. Also, everyone agrees on the origin of contrails in the sky.
Better call them contrails
As a result of the combustion that takes place in the aircraft engines, a large number of substances are released into the air, from water vapor to carbon dioxide, passing through nitrogen oxides, sulfur gases and soot. However, the one that most interests us to understand this phenomenon is the water steam. In the same way that when we breathe in a very cold environment, the gases that come out very hot, when they pass into the atmosphere, much colder, condense.
If the humidity conditions are adequate, the water that was in the form of vapor solidifies, forming little crystals, which can also remain more stable by organizing themselves on the soot. In fact, they remain so stable that they have come to be classified as a cloud. It can only be considered as such a grouping of ice crystals that remains in the air for more than 10 minutes. This is something that happens frequently with contrails, so the World Meteorological Organization has baptized them as cirrus homogenitus. If it grows large enough to resemble a natural cirrusthey must be given a third name, which in this case indicates their human origin, since they are known as Cirrus homogenitus homomutatus.
Debunking the conspiracy
Beyond the 2016 study, many scientists have analyzed the possible existence of chemtrails, but none have managed to prove it. And it is that, in reality, the arguments that are normally used to demonstrate their existence they are not solid at all.
For example, there is talk that if they really came from condensation they would not remain in the air for so long. Nevertheless, they are more than studied the conditions of pressure, temperature and humidity that make it easier for condensation to remain stable in the air.
On the other hand, social networks are full of videos whose only argument is that contrails do not come from aircraft engines. And it is that, in reality, the gases that come out of the engine spread through the wings and towards the tail, so the condensation doesn’t necessarily have to be a line coming out of the engine. Planes fly precisely because of how the air is distributed through their wings.
As for the theory that chemtrails are the result of cloud-removing aircraft, that doesn’t make much sense either. This option is very famous in places in the southeast of Spain, where rainfall is usually scarce. Although now, with climate change, the drought is leading to talk about it at other points.
Supposedly, these planes inject substances such as silver iodide into the clouds to cause drought. However, it is curious that they have reached this conclusion, since this substance has been investigated with the completely opposite objective. The Nobel Prize did it. irving langmuir in the 40s of the last century. Looking for a way to cause precipitation in dry places, he saw that if the clouds were dusted with substances such as dry ice or silver iodide, it could make it easier for it to rain.
Unfortunately, although that was not his initial goal, he ended up using his method for war purposes during the Vietnam War. Specifically, it sought to increase the effects of the monsoons to make it difficult for the opposing army to access the jungle.
Over time, this tool was discarded, since it has not been studied in depth if it could produce adverse effects. In any case, if it were used clandestinely, it would not reduce the rainfall: I would increase them.
In short, our current problem is none other than climate change. Of that there is more than proven evidence and, of course, it gives governments many questions. Adding fuel to the conspiracy fire is not only a waste of time, but it pulls the focus from where it really should be. Our problems do not come from the sky, but from the surface. Let’s try to solve them instead of continuing to believe in movies.
