Alfonso Durazo Montaño, governor-elect of Sonora, has maintained his position on the return to face-to-face classes on August 30. However, this will be made difficult by the fact that most of the schools are in poor condition, so will work in a rehabilitation program.
According to local media, Durazo Montaño promised that so that students can go to schools gradually, repair work in the state will be doubled.
“There is a significant lag that makes it difficult to fully begin the back-to-school program. We are a few days away from this deadline and consequently it is essential to redouble our efforts so that it is 100% completed repair of school facilities, to put them in proper order, “he declared.
The next president added that there will be an adjustment of some programs to try to save public resources. In this way, schools can be rehabilitated as there is more budget for this activity.
On the other hand, he assured that face-to-face classes will not start in schools that are not in the proper conditions to do so.
The Sonora state government announced that the back to face-to-face classes in the entity will be the next August 30th.
Through a press release, it was reported this Thursday, August 5, that the interdisciplinary commission, made up of the Secretaries of Health and of Education and Culture and the Sonoran Institute of Educational Infrastructure, have prioritized the safety of students, teachers and the entire academic community.
In this context and given the need to return to the classrooms for basic education, it was determined respect the date established in the school calendar of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).
In this way and with the objective of guaranteeing safety conditions for the members of the community, it was established that this will be gradual, orderly and safe.
To prevent the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes coronavirus disease, the number of schools and groups that will restart activities is small. However, the amount will increase as the epidemiological conditions of the entity improve.
It should be noted that the return to classes for students will be voluntary, that is, the decision of the parents will be respected, “Putting the health of girls, boys and young people as a priority”.
What states will return in person?
More than 17 states of the Republic will return to face-to-face classes the following Monday, but according to health authorities not all of them can return.
In the midst of this strong pandemic of COVID-19, which has left more than three million infected, it was reported in February of this year that the entities that will be able to rejoin the face-to-face classes are those that are in a green epidemiological traffic light (low contagion alert) or yellow (medium contagion alert ).
Subject to the change of the traffic light in some regions of the country, the states that have declared their reincorporation to face-to-face activities next week are:

* Aguascalientes
* Morelos
* Sinaloa
* Sonora
* Guanajuato
* Jalisco

* Tlaxcala

While the entities that still analyze the return to the classroom are:

* Puebla

And the entities that will not be reinstated are:

* Michoacan
It should be noted that the only state that anticipated the opening of schools was Coahuila, where school activities started last monday, august 23.
In the case of the state of Oaxaca, he reiterated that his return to schools will take place gradually. Meanwhile, Querétaro authorities reiterated that it can be achieved as long as there is no setback or infections rise.
