Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, various sectors at the international level – not only labor, but also electronic commerce, remote education, digital health, among others – saw exponential growth (a trend that is still increasing), resulting in something similar with cyberattacks and security incidents.
In this sense, Mexico was no exception. Only in 2020 the institutions of the ISSSTE, Banxico and Condusef suffered damages in their respective internet pages; The Ministry of Public Function suffered a security incident that exposed the wealth declarations of thousands of public officials, and other similar cases went through the startup iVoy, the fintech Clip, to name a few.
And it is most likely that this list falls short in terms of the number of companies and public institutions that received cyberattacks in that year, not to mention those generated to individuals, either due to failures, low capacity of computer systems or human negligence.
Traditionally, the first step in establishing defenses against potential cyberattacks is to integrate a solution that includes the necessary tools for this purpose, preventive monitoring, proper update management, steps in place to address incidents and, very importantly, education for users. But what happens if Artificial Intelligence is added to this?
Because Artificial Intelligence analyzes and learns data with greater efficiency and precision than any work team, it has become an ally in various areas of any organization and Information Technology should not be the exception.
Without the intention of underestimating the human factor and without trying to make controversy regarding the fact that machines, tools based on computer systems or that technology in general intends to displace the presence of people in any process, companies and institutions prone to cyber attacks Those who have not done so should turn to see the option of applying this technology in terms of preventing cyber attacks.
They must consider the capacity of Artificial Intelligence as a factor that enhances, facilitates and improves, not only the tools, systems and processes, but also the work of human capital.
