Apple is working on a 16-inch iPad, the largest in the history of the tablet. According to Informationthe company’s plan is to launch said device during the last quarter of 2023. Although the current iPads already have well covered the demands of the market in terms of size, there is a certain sector that needs a larger model.
Specifically, the aforementioned medium mentions that Apple is looking for win over artists and graphic designers. Certainly, these professionals often resort to larger graphics tablets; especially when they integrate an interactive screen. The market for this type of product is dominated by a few manufacturers, including Wacom. Therefore, Apple would like to take a slice of the cake by introducing its own proposal.
The great advantage that the 16″ iPad would have over traditional graphics tablets is that your experience would not be limited to the professional. Today, the iPad is used for multiple activities, including leisure and entertainment. Therefore, a graphic artist would have access to an all-in-one device capable of fulfilling a wide variety of functions. In this way, then, they could also do without the computer.
Nowadays, many artists turn to the iPad Pro to get their creative work done. There are endless applications whose tools are very robust and make work life easier. In addition, the Apple Pencil has proven to be an inseparable companion when it comes to drawing or tracing. The only “but”, of course, is that some creatives wish they had a bigger screen. The 16-inch iPad would come to satisfy them.
In the recent past, other reports had already anticipated that Apple was testing iPads with dimensions greater than 12.9″, which is the largest size currently on sale. Just in June, Ross Young, a leaker which is usually reliable, assured that those from Cupertino were developing an iPad Pro with a miniLED screen of 14.1″.
For his part, Mark Gurman of Bloombergsaid in 2021 that Apple intends to launch a higher segment of the iPad with 14-inch and 16-inch screens. The idea, beyond meeting the needs of the professional sector, would be to blur the line between the iPad and the MacBook. Interestingly, the latter, in its Pro variant, is available in 14 and 16″ models.
