Microsoft’s plan, according to the documents, is to develop a hybrid gaming platform in the next generation capable of combining the power of the cloud for a “completely new” gaming experience.
The company’s roadmap indicates that the design of this new hardware would begin in 2024, while the first development kits will be available in 2027 and the first hybrid cloud games would begin to be produced between 2024 and 2026.
On the other hand, a different email states that the company’s strategy could revolve around a control, that is, that this device assumes hybrid tasks to be able to play and which would be connected directly to the cloud.
New video games will come to Xbox
Another element that was also revealed in the documents as part of the FTC vs Microsoft case is the list of possible releases that would come to the console in the near future.
For example, the Oblivion remaster would be scheduled for this fiscal year, while a new game called Doom Year Zero and paid downloadable content would arrive in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
Likewise, it was highlighted that a remastering of Fallout 3, a sequel to Ghostwire: Tokyo for 2024 and a new Dishonored game would arrive in the same year, as well as a new intellectual property that was not revealed.
Xbox intended to buy Nintendo
In 2020, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer noted that he would like to buy Nintendo at some point, according to an email he sent to two senior marketing executives at the company.
In the document, Spencer highlighted that for that specific moment, Microsoft was in a better position if there was the possibility of buying Nintendo, a company that would give them greater exposure in the industry and even noted that it had the support of the board. Microsoft directive if the opportunity arose.
The information is relevant, since those emails also mentioned the possibility of buying ZeniMax Media (something that happened a month later), in addition to Warner Bros Interactive, something that did not materialize, and demonstrated the interest that had already been evident by buy other studios, such as Sega or Square Enix.
