We all grew up—and whoever didn’t, is lying—with that sound attached to the intro of Summer Blue while Pancho, Javi, Julia, Tito and Piraña pedaled around looking for Chanquete.
That immortal role of Antonio Ferrandis It is just as unforgettable as Nerjathe town in Malaga where this RTVE production was filmed that makes us reconnect with our past and that now, in autumn, becomes another of those Mediterranean refuges where the good weather still resists.
With maximum temperatures in November that can slightly exceed 20º Celsius, Nerja is a summer haven on the Costa del Sollocated just 50 kilometers east of Malaga, the provincial capital.
Just over 20,000 registered inhabitants – which in summer multiply by four or five – continue to provide the town with a sailor charm loaded with a subtropical climate which brings mild climates to the table all year round.
A perpetually paradisiacal destination which is well worth a weekend getaway to rediscover its beaches, the settings where Verano Azul was filmed or the no less impressive Caves of Nerja, surely the great natural heritage of this municipality that thus invites us to discover its depths.
What to see and do in Nerja
Discovered in 1959, the Nerja Caves extend over a root system of passages, rooms and vaults of up to five kilometers, although not all of them are visitable. However, there are several very spectacular rooms such as the Lobby Room, the largest and first of all, 32 meters high.
No less impressive is the stalagmite that dominates the Waterfall Room, 60 meters high. The Music Room and the Cataclysm Room also deserve a good review.
Now outside the caves, Nerja also boasts maritime heritage. Perfect for soaking up a few rays of sunshine and enjoying a good walk is Burriana Beach, the largest of the beaches in the municipality, which is quieter in autumn and also offers charming panoramic views.

With the atmosphere of a fishing village, full of whites and blues, Nerja invites you to tour its historic center, crisscrossed with cobblestone streets and picturesque houses that invite you to stroll calmly. Nor should we forget the Balcón de Europa, a small promontory that overlooks the entire bay and offers impressive views of the entire coast.
