Windows 11 came with a fairly important grill of news. One of the most outstanding have been his famous widgets. However, since its launch we have been able to see a fairly limited use of them, and for the time being the Microsoft operating system only allow to use widgets company’s own. This, of course, had to change, and this is confirmed by a new announcement direct from Redmond.
Windows 11 will allow the integration of widgets from third parties later this year. This was announced by Microsoft during its annual conference Build 2022. In accordance with TheVergethe widgets will allow more information about Win32 apps and PWAs to be displayed in the operating system.
We are excited about customer feedback on the widgets To date, people are enjoying quick access to the content that is most important to them in a way that is seamless without breaking their flow. From the end of this year you will be able to start creating widgets as companion experiences for your Win32 and PWA apps on Windows 11, powered by the Adaptive Cards platform.

Until now, the amount of widgets available in the operating system is quite limited. Most of them are related to the company’s business apps, like Outlook and To Do-style apps. In addition, we have some integrations with MSN news and weather forecast that we can access without pressing too many buttons.
However, it seems that the company has realized that if it wants this function to grow, it has to offer tools so that third-party apps and programs can create their own widgets. With the right push, it could become one of the most useful features of the system. After all, who doesn’t like to look up information without wasting time in the process?
But it seems that these are not all the news. A recent report indicates that widgets of Windows 11 could undergo a slight renovation. As Microsoft has described this new feature, it is “light and interactive content.” Is about an widget in the form of a search bar which we can add to the Windows 11 desktop. Of course, it will be fully interactive, and just by writing what we want to search for, a browser window will open with the results.
Although some have opposed the idea, it has been confirmed that the feature can be disabled. However, can be very useful for those who search repeatedlyand it saves us the time to open the browser and then the search engine preferably.
Although we don’t know if it will be possible to change the preferred browser and search engine, it is most likely that the search bar come pre-configured to show results from Bing. If so, it would be a new attempt by Microsoft to force users to use its search service.
