“We have already started the construction of the new building,” he said regarding what will be the warehouse for the merchandise soft line, such as clothing, accessories, makeup and smaller merchandise. The company plans for this ship to start operating in April next year.
The company began operations in the warehouse for large merchandise (big ticket) in this logistics center, located in Jilotepec, State of Mexico, in October of last year. With this, it increased its capacity for receiving, storing and distributing merchandise.
For this year, the company contemplates the inauguration of 15 Suburbia stores, plus the Liverpool one that opened on January 24 in the Parque Tepeyac shopping center, with which it adds 22 units in the metropolitan area of Mexico City.
Güijosa also projects an increase in its expenses due to the increase in the vacation period approved as of this year, in addition to leveling the salaries of employees to ensure that no one receives less than the minimum wage, mainly in the area of operations and logistics. Added to this are the changes generated by the pension reform.
During the call to comment on the financial statements for the last quarter of 2022, the manager explained that the company remodeled its store located in Santa Fe and made a disbursement of about 700 million pesos to take a 50% stake in the real estate project of GICSA, which is located in front of Galerías Metepec, in the State of Mexico.
The landing of credit in Peru
Last year, the Port of Liverpool made a disbursement for 40 million dollars to partially finance the purchase of CrediScotia in Peru, an operation carried out by Unicomer, a group in which it has a non-controlling shareholding of 50%.
Unicomer Group, which has among its brands the retailers La Curacao, Gollo and Electrofacil, also invested 40 million dollars to close the offer for CrediScotia, ScotiaBank’s consumer credit business in Peru.
The company’s director of finance and administration commented that it is the first time they have arrived in a new country with the credit business, which will be operated by Unicomer.
“We still do not have any operations in Peru, we are waiting for the approval of the regulator and we are sure that we will receive it sometime in the middle of this year,” concluded Güijosa.
