It seems that part of the fandom it is still not clear that Henry Cavill is out of DC for now. James Gunn, director of DC Films, had already announced that they do not have the aforementioned actor in the restructuring of the Extended Universe. The speculation never ended, however, because Gunn himself stated that they weren’t going to shut the door on Cavill entirely; hinting at the possible return of him as another character.
That same wave of speculation recently peaked. The reason? According to a report from Giant Freaking RobotJames Gunn was trying to convince Henry Cavill to take the role of Frankenstein in the renewed DC Extended Universe. The proposal not only contemplated the interpretation of the character in an adaptation live actionbut also lend his voice in the animated series.
However, James Gunn did not take long to deny the information. Lately, the manager is answering fan questions through his Twitter account, a strategy that also aims to show that the new DC administration listens to the public.
One of his followers asked if there really were options to see Henry Cavill as Frankenstein, to which James Gunn responded emphatically:
“Completely false. We have our Frankenstein, our first choice, and it’s not Henry. It was never argued with him.”
James Gunn.
Unfortunately, James Gunn did not want to talk about who is the actor who will take the role of Frankenstein. However, given how word is getting around in Hollywood, it should come as no surprise that the name is leaking soon.
Henry Cavill won’t play Frankenstein
Frankenstein, despite having its origin in a literary work by Mary Shelley, became even more popular in the world of entertainment. So much so, that it has its own version in DC comics. The character appeared for the first time during the distant 1948 in detective comics #135by Edmond Hamilton and Bob Kane. However, over time he was imagined differently by other writers.
To the surprise of many, Frankenstein will be a key piece in the restructuring of the DC Extended Universe. The first stage of the project is called “Gods and Monsters”and the beloved green character fits perfectly into the second category.
James Gunn’s plan contemplates creating multiple productions connected to each other. One of them is monster command, an animated series that will make its debut on HBO Max. In the comics, the monster command It is made up of Rick Flag Sr., Nina Mazursky, Dr. Phosphorus, GI Robot, Weasel, Eric Frankenstein and his partner.
Other productions that are part of “Gods and Monsters” are Superman Legacy, The brave and the bold, Booster Gold, Waller, Swamp Thing, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Paradise Lost. To the previous projects we can also add those of Elseworlds. Although they are not included within the DC Extended Universe, they are just as important: The authority, Joker Folie à Deux (joker 2) And of course, The Batman Part II.
