How did the date come about?
The International Coffee Day has been celebrated since 2015 and was promoted by the International Coffee Organization (ICO) in order to boost its consumption and promote strategies that encourage production.
Health benefits of coffee
Although coffee has many benefits, we list three of the main ones:
1. Perhaps the best known is its stimulating action, this is due to the caffeine that keeps those who consume it alert and awake.
2. It is rich in antioxidants, especially polyphenols, among other things, these help reduce the effect of free radicals and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
3. Reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes. According to Nescafé, several studies link a consumption of three or four cups of coffee a day, also decaffeinated, with a 25% less chance of suffering from this type of diabetes. The mechanisms by which coffee influences the development of this disease are not clear, but it could be due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and thermogenic effect.
