Previously, the explanation could be in the banks, since not all offered compatibility with their own payment app or with the Wallet, such as Google Pay, Samsung Pay or Apple Pay, but today they all have alternatives. The problem lies in the smartphones that for some reason, although they arrive in 2021 itself, still do not offer us that advantage.
The cost of the NFC chip is not a reason
Many may think that manufacturers are looking to save money for their terminals, more than enough reason to opt for do not integrate the NFC chip. However, if we try to buy an NFC chip to replace that of some mobiles, we will realize that its price is insignificant, since it stands at just 3 or 4 euros. This price is much lower if we remember that we are not a large company that we are going to buy a large panel full of NFC chips.
In the paragraphs, its price was higher, but with the great democratization and the arrival of NFC to smartwatches and even smart bracelets, NFCs have established themselves in the market and are essential. Taking into account that smartphones are the center of all our operations and after having checked their price, it is still strange that it does not reach all new mobiles.
The market speaks; the best-selling mobiles do not have NFC
As much as it does not cost manufacturers work, thickness or too much money to add an NFC chip, as long as users do not care too much they will continue to choose not to apply the change. This is the conclusion we can draw if we look at the currently best-selling smartphones, where there is no doubt that NFC is not a reason to buy for many people.
In the top positions we find the Samsung Galaxy M12, the Samsung Galaxy A03s and the popular Xiaomi Redmi 9C (a model that also exists with NFC). Terminals that have in common the lack of the NFC and that still rank in the top positions since their introduction. All of them with good options and ratings, some mention of the lack of the contactless chip but without being something drastic.
Meanwhile, when we look at best-selling models that exceed 200 euros, the requirements already seem clear and the NFC is not forgotten. Without the reason being the price, it seems to be something that many brands leave in oblivion for the moment, but until when? Will there come a time when even the cheapest have NFC?
