The realme X50 5G is the new proposal of the Chinese firm to attract the public from the middle segment of the market. After the launch of its flagship realme X50 Pro 5G, the technological “tuning” now some of its aspects to give rise to a new cheaper version but also attractive.
First of all, the realme X50 5G highlights that it is a device of remarkable dimensions, appreciable when one has it in hand. To its 6.57 “inches screen must be added a remarkable frame at the bottom and a thickness of almost 9 millimeters. All this causes the terminal to feel somewhat rough and, added to its plastic finishes, the general perception is that is far from the high-end in this regard.
On one of its sides is located the fingerprint reader, which works with the speed that these systems already characterize. Combined with 2D facial recognition, the result is quick access to the device.
The most striking feature of the device is its screen, which, despite not being an OLED, does have a refresh rate that is not yet common in the market. With it, 120 Hz is reached, which serves to greatly improve the experience with the device. These translate into smoother transition, less friction and a greater sense of speed.

Solvency in the day to day
The inclusion of the Snapdragon 765G processor has been revealed as a popular and successful decision among many manufacturers. This is one of the most balanced chips of the moment of how many Qualcomm manufactures, which translates into a very good performance in daily tasks. From the most basic, such as social networks or messaging applications, to video games, the realme X50 5G will hold the stake without hesitation.
In addition, this allows the technology company to add the increasingly succulent surname in the name that guarantees its ability to connect to the fastest networks. Despite the fact that the use of 5G continues to be residual in most of the world, it is a quality to take into account in certain locations and, also, with a view to its future expansion.
A good audio experience contributes to the good experience with the device – despite not being in stereo mode – and a remarkable battery. The 4,200 mAh, nothing exaggerated compared to other devices, is enough to reach the end of the day even with the screen refresh rate set at 120 Hz.
Forced to mention, when talking about a home smartphone, realme UI. The technology’s own system interface, in the same way as Oppo, presents vivid colors and departs from the base Android experience. Still, it is accessible, highly customizable and works lightly.
It does come, however, with a certain number of pre-installed applications or bloatware that are not customary to find.
Cameras for all tastes
The photographic configuration of the realme X50 5G consists of a total of six lenses. With two on the front and another two on the back, the firm endorses the desire to express that more is better. On paper, perhaps; in practice, not so much.
The configuration is distributed as follows:
Frontal:
- 16 MP, f / 2.0 : main
- 2 MP, f / 2.4 : portrait
Rear:
- 48 MP, f / 1.8: main
- 8 MP, f / 2.3: wide-angle
- 2 MP, f / 2.4: black and white
- 2 MP, f / 2.4 : macro
The distribution of qualities is interesting and results in a versatile camera capable of facing a wide range of scenarios on a daily basis. In the back, we miss seeing the inclusion of a telephoto lens that allows taking double-magnification pictures without loss of quality, for example, instead of the additional black and white lens, whose usefulness is increasingly questioned. Also a wide-angle, as this has already become a fixed choice for almost all manufacturers.
Standard.
Wide-angle.
The results achieved are within the mid-range in which this terminal is located. They will be sufficient for the vast majority, although they are far from the perfection to which those of higher ranges aspire. Even so, the shots offer a good level of detail, the HDR is automatically activated with certainty and, in general, what is obtained satisfies the eye.
Details such as the inclusion of a focus lens in portrait mode in the front camera do a lot of good to the experience of use, achieving an attractive level of blur while maintaining the overall texture of the image.
For the rest, there are also options such as panoramic shooting both in the front and in the back or a macro mode that, of course, adds too much profile to the images. Similarly, night shooting mode will help rescue lost detail in the shadows at night to make regular images acceptable.
In short, for a price of 349 euros (as of August 7), the realme X50 5G is a powerful and capable contender against terminals such as the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G. Its screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, the correct behavior of its camera, added to its performance and connectivity, make it a very good place to defend itself in the demanding mid-range market.
