lawyer day
It is celebrated on July 12 of each year and was instituted by President Adolfo López Mateos in 1960.
It was instituted on this date because, precisely on July 12, but in 1553, the first chair of Law was dictated in America, by Fray Bartolomé Frías y Albornoz at the Royal and Pontifical University of Mexico, which gave rise to what we know today as National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
What is the difference between a lawyer and a law graduate?
In order to obtain a law degree, one must graduate from a university and receive a professional certificate that accredits the validity of the professional title and the aptitudes to practice the profession.
A lawyer, specifically, is a law graduate who practices litigation or law, that is, the defense or representation of others before the courts.
A law graduate, therefore, can be a lawyer, but can also provide multiple legal services: consultancy, notary, among others.
