When does Chinese New Year 2023 start?
According to the Chinese calendar, the year you were born can determine your personality. That’s because each year is represented by an animal, called the Chinese zodiac sign, and legend has it that people born under that sign have animal-like traits. This 2023 Chinese New Year begins on Sunday, January 22.
Why doesn’t it start on January 1st?
This is because the Chinese New Year is celebrated on the second new moon after the winter solstice and the spring equinox; for this reason, each year falls on a different date, although always between January 21 and February 20.
