Xiaomi has announced a very important development in terms of software: the arrival of HyperOS, its new system that will allow a complete connection between devices from more than 200 product categories, including the electric car that the brand could announce next year. This new operating system will also replace MIUI on some of its mobile phones. But, when will you be able to install it on your device?
According to has confirmed Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, HyperOS will debut with the Xiaomi 14 series. This, in particular, is usually made up of four devices. Therefore, and if we take into account the models that Xiaomi has announced this year of its Xiaomi 13 series (which will be the predecessor of the Xiaomi 14 series), HyperOS will reach the following models first.
- Xiaomi 14
- Xiaomi 14 Pro
- Xiaomi 14 Ultra
- Xiaomi 14 Lite
It is also very likely that the next devices that will be announced throughout 2014 will also integrate HyperOS out of the box.
As for the rest of the brand’s mobile phones, such as those that have already been announced, It is still unclear if they will receive HyperOS or keep MIUI. In any case, and if they finally receive it, the update would not arrive until the end of the year, which is when the company officially updates its customization layer, thus coinciding with the update schedule that Google sets for Android.
How to install HyperOS once it is available
Installing HyperOS once it is available on Xiaomi phones will not be complicated. In fact, it is likely that You can do it the same way they update their smartphones. To do this, you just have to go to Settings and then to the ‘About phone’ section. Finally, click on the MIUI version and click ‘Update’, if the option appears.
Will there be changes in HyperOS compared to MIUI? At the moment, the features that will come to HyperOS are not confirmed, but the company’s CEO has confirmed that this will be a completely different version of MIUI. Therefore, the new operating system may arrive with a renewed interface and new functions. HyperOS, however, will be based on Android, so you can probably continue downloading apps from Google Play and using Google services.
