Who receives a credit balance refund?
In accordance with the provisions of article 22 of the Federal Tax Code:
“The tax authorities will return the amounts improperly paid and those that proceed in accordance with the tax laws.” When a taxpayer presents his annual return and has a balance in his favor, he can choose to have it refunded.
How to receive the return of balance in favor?
To receive your automatic refund, submit your 2022 Annual Declaration for Individuals on the official SAT website. Remember that the term expires on May 2.
If, after correctly capturing your annual income and calculating the Income Tax to be paid, the tax authority determines that you have a credit balance, you can choose to have it returned to your bank account with:

If the balance in favor is equal to or less than 10 thousand pesos.
If the amount is greater than 10,000 pesos and up to 150,000 pesos, as long as you use your preloaded CLABE account.

If your balance in favor is greater than 10 thousand pesos and you capture a new CLABE account.
There is a possibility that the SAT determines that, instead of a balance in favor, you have a balance against or in charge. Which means that you paid less tax than you owed in the declared year. In this sense, it will be necessary to approach the tax authority to review your return and, where appropriate, even go to the Taxpayer Defense Attorney (Prodecon), to receive advice.
