A while ago, WhatsApp rolled out a feature that allowed you to send photos and videos that can only be viewed once. Unfortunately, many users evaded the nature of such images by simply taking a screenshot of it. Soon that will not be possible, because the latest WhatsApp beta now blocks screenshots when viewing content of this type.
This is not the first time that some applications prevent screenshots. Banking or streaming video apps like Netflix have been blocking them for a long time. Thus prevent content piracy, spoilers, or disclosure of private information. Now, this same function will allow to keep the images and videos of WhatsApp users much more secure.
The information was shared by WABetaInfo, the website specialized in future WhatsApp updates. As they say, the new feature appears among the essential functions of the latest beta of the application for iPhone.
No one else will be able to abuse your privacy thanks to this WhatsApp feature
This function would be coming to iPhone users soon, they point out from WABetaInfo. To test it, they have used the latest WhatsApp beta through TestFlight. Thus, they have realized that, when taking a screenshot, WhatsApp displays a message where they mention: “Locked for added security”.
It is worth mentioning that the app will take a screenshot. However, the latter It will show the message described above. Thus, you can protect yourself from unwanted captures in single-view images and videos.
How can you get hold of this feature? Unfortunately, It is currently only available to WhatsApp beta users. Specifically version 22.21.0.71 (build 405622068). This option, moreover, cannot be deactivated, so it will become a permanent reality among all users when it is decided to launch in a stable version.
Although it cannot be guaranteed that this feature will reach the official versions of WhatsApp, seems like a jump in the right direction. In other words, given its great utility, we believe that it is quite likely that it will end up reaching the rest of the users of the messaging service.
Other features coming to the app
These are not the only changes that we will see in WhatsApp soon. Another quite important one is the possibility of creating polls within the conversations, something that will work very well in groups of friends. We have also been able to see the ability to generate links from which anyone can join WhatsApp calls. A movement that we already saw with Zoom and FaceTime.
