One of the most anticipated functions of WhatsApp is already reaching those people who have the beta version of the application for Android. As revealed wabetainfothe messaging platform owned by Meta has begun to activate the baptized as ‘partner mode’which will allow users use the same WhatsApp account on two different devicesand not only on a mobile and on a PC, as before.
The ‘Companion mode’ is, in fact, the name given to the much requested multi-device support, which is already available when linking a WhatsApp account in the desktop app or the web version of the platform. In this case, however, the goal is be able to use the same account on an additional mobile or tablet and, therefore, prevent the application itself from logging out of the previous device when we register on a new smartphone.
WhatsApp will also allow the user to use the app even if the main smartphone – or the one on which the session was first started – is connected to the Internet. The messages will be synchronized on both devices, as is already the case with the web version, and it will also be possible to make calls or video calls or even link to WhatsApp Web or the desktop version from the additional mobile or tablet. The app, yes, limits the so-called ‘Companion Mode’ to a maximum of 4 devices.
How to use the new WhatsApp Partner Mode
At the moment, the new feature is available in version 2.22.24.18 of the WhatsApp beta for Androidbut it is likely that in the coming weeks it will expand to the final version and also reach WhatsApp for iOS.
To activate this function, the user must download the WhatsApp app on the additional device they want to link (for example, a tablet or a second smartphone). Next, on the registration screen, it will be necessary to access the three-dot menu that appears at the top of the screen and click on ‘Link device’.
Then, you just have to access the WhatsApp app from the main device, click on the configuration options, in the ‘Link device’ section and focus the camera on the QR code that has been previously generated on the second smartphone or tablet.
