What is dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a learning disorder characterized by difficulty reading. It can be seen in the fluency and the difficulty in adhering to spelling rules. This has nothing to do with the intelligence of the person. For the WHO, those who suffer from it are usually on a spectrum of normal intelligence and even above average.
Symptoms in children and adults
Some symptoms that can be identified in children are delay in learning to speak and read, difficulty learning new words. Children with dyslexia invert words in whole or in part, for example house for sack.
Sometimes dyslexia is not identified from childhood and progresses into adolescence or adult life. In this case, the indicators are similar to those that exist in children, such as difficulty reading, either quietly or loudly.
In general, the National University of Córdoba explains that people with this disease have difficulty reciting the alphabet, naming letters, performing simple rhymes and analyzing or classifying sounds.
During reading omissions, substitutions, distortions, inversions or addictions, slowness, hesitations, visual tracking problems and comprehension deficits occur.
What is the cause
According to the Ministry of Health of the State of Mexico, there is no defined cause that originates it, some of the symptoms are difficulty reading sentences or simple words. School problems are often the result of misdiagnosis and can be frustrating for the child.
