Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe
The apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe, in the Catholic belief, happened on December 12, 1531, to San Juan Diego. The popular celebrations begin a few days before and culminate at dawn on this date with ‘Las mañanitas’ and various religious activities.
The most important party takes place in the Basilica of Guadalupe, in Mexico City, where millions of pilgrims arrive every year from various states and countries, mainly Latin American.
When is Banker’s Day?
Although it is thought that banks do not open on December 12 due to the celebrations of the Virgin, this is not exactly the case. This date also commemorates the Day of the bank employee in Mexico, so if you have pending with your financial institution, anticipate them, because that day there are no branches open.
Is December 12 an official day?
No, and therefore, employers are not required to give their employees rest on December 12. And, because it is not contemplated as an official holiday in the Federal Labor Law, double pay is not paid either.
That is why the only employees who will not work safely and will have a bridge are the bankers. Unless the employer, at his own expense, decides to give his workers this day off.
