The most followed stocks in Google Finance
Worldwide there are thousands of shares of different companies in various countries, but not all of them are available to investors in Mexico, since to access them they would have to open an account in said market.
In Mexico there are around 145 companies listed on the local stock exchanges (Mexican Stock Exchange and Institutional Stock Exchange), but in addition to these companies, investors can access more than 1,900 shares of companies around the world through the International System of Quotations (SIC).
Despite this range of options, there are few companies that people are most interested in. According to Google Finance, the most followed stocks are from the technology sector: Apple, Alphabet (Google parent), Microsoft, Amazon, Meta (Facebook parent) and Tesla.
And in fact, these same actions are among the most traded in the SIC. Together, these seven companies have a market value of 8.3 trillion dollars, which is equivalent to twice the GDP of Germany or 36% of the GDP of the United States, the world’s largest economy.
