A piece of news shakes the automotive industry: SEAT will cease to exist as a car manufacturer. This was confirmed by Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen, who announced that the historic Spanish brand will disappear so that Cupra can take its place.
“The future of SEAT is Cupra,” the executive told Coach during the 2023 Munich Motor Show. This is something that was rumored in the specialized press in the automotive world, however, an official word was not expected so soon.
It is worth clarifying, however, that SEAT’s death will not be immediate, nor will it imply the definitive elimination of the brand. According to Schäfer, the models that are currently part of the manufacturer’s catalog will continue to be produced until the end of their life cycle. Once this phase is over, Cupra will take over.
What will happen to SEAT in the future? The CEO of Volkswagen affirms that “a different role will be found for him.”
