The Google Pixel 6 and Android 12 -in their most standard version- are here. Hand in hand come an infinity of exclusive functions for Google phones, among which an old acquaintance stands out: the magic eraser: the tool to remove objects from our photos.
It took a long time, but Google’s magic eraser is already among us four years later that it was shown for the first time at Google I / O in 2017. This powerful tool comes to almost imperceptibly remove any object from a photo, although it will be exclusive to the Google Pixel 6.
Remove objects from a photo as if by magic
Four years later, Google’s magic draft is finally a reality, when we have almost given up hope. The new Google Photos tool It will be released on the Google Pixel 6, without there being any news at the moment about whether it will arrive later at the rest of the terminals or not. If the processing is done on the mobile itself, something that is not clear, then most likely not.
The good news is, if you have a Google Pixel 6, you can use the magic eraser in any photo you have on your mobile, either freshly taken with the phone or from years ago. What’s more, Google Photos itself will suggest you remove background objects automatically, when it detects it.
The truth is that, according to the examples that Google has shown, the wait may have been worth it. The result seems much more convincing than the one we get with other applications to remove objects from photos, where you can generally distinguish quite clearly the “stain” where there was something before.
In addition, it comes with some more options than we are used to. On the one hand there is the automatic mode via suggestion, which is basically a tap and go. On the other is the manual mode, where you can scribble around what you want to erase. The great novelty is that this doodle does not need to be anything precise for the system to detect which is indeed the object you want to erase.
Now yes, the magic eraser tool will be in Google Photos on the Google Pixel 6 on launch day, next October 28. Those who have another Android mobile will have to continue waiting for the person behind to leave the frame before taking the photo.
