The Twitter For You section, which displays content that might be relevant to the user, even from accounts the user doesn’t follow, will soon be full of tweets from verified people. Elon Musk has confirmed that, starting next April, only those who have a blue badge and, therefore, with a subscription to Twitter Blue, will appear in this section with the aim of “addressing the control of advanced AI bot swarms ”.
“Starting April 15, only verified accounts will be eligible to be on the For You recommendations.”, Musk has assured in a tweet. The tycoon also highlights that those verified bots may also appear in the For you section. As long as, yes, they follow the terms of service and do not impersonate humans.
The measure also affects polls. From that day, therefore, only those users with a Twitter Blue subscription and a verified account will be able to vote in polls from other persons. The objective, we reiterate, is to prevent bots from showing SPAM in recommendation sections. Or, in the case of surveys, prevent automated accounts from tampering with the results.
Indeed, a few months ago Musk confirmed that only those users subscribed to Blue would have the opportunity to vote in polls related to Twitter politics.
Twitter will also remove verification from older accounts that aren’t paying for Blue.
In April, Twitter too will remove verification from older accounts. If users who are verified before Elon Musk took over the social network want to keep the badge, they will have to pay for Blue. This will make the notice that appears when someone clicks on the blue check show that the check is active because they are a user subscribed to Twitter Blue.
On the other hand, those companies that want the golden verification badge can request it through a form that the social network has created for it. The price, yes, is $1,000 per month. Affiliates of those companies, such as the CEO of a company or an employee with a relevant position, can also receive verification through their company by paying an extra $50 per month. In the latter case, a small icon with the brand logo will be displayed next to the badge.
Since a few days ago, Twitter Blue has been available worldwide for a price of $8 per month through the web. From the iOS and Android app, the subscription costs $11 per month.
