Account Twitter Safety has confirmed that the social network is working on a new and essential function. It is a feature that will allow you to disassociate yourself from those infinite threads in which you have been mentioned; and that many times they leave no other option than to silence notifications. Now, however, you will be able to completely remove your username from said conversation and escape from it.
This is a function that has been requested by the public for a long time; next to that of the edit button that they have confirmed will arrive soon in the app. The feature comes under the name of unmentioning (do not mention).
How to say “Don’t @ me” without saying “Don’t @ me”?
We are experimenting with unmentioning -a way to help you protect your peace and withdraw from conversations-; available on the web for some of you.

Along with the explanation of how the function works; twitter too posted a short GIF where it is explained in detail how we can make use of it.
More new features for Twitter
To use the new unmention feature on Twitter, we just have to enter a thread in which we have been mentioned. Here, we will see an option called leave this conversation by touching the three horizontal dots to the right of the tweets. clicking there, we will immediately leave the conversation and we can keep our peace of mind.
This feature is especially useful on Twitter, where it is very easy to get caught up in hostile conversations in which you have nothing to do. However, you can use it to get out of others in which you have been mentioned by mistake, or any reason you think necessary.
In recent months, the company has put quite a lot of effort into improving its platform. Now, we also have notifications that allow us to limit replies to our tweet when you have large numbers of followers they interact with it. In this way, we avoid being trapped in a spiral of collective harassment, something quite common in the social network.
This new feature is no surprise. In February, the leaker Twitter’s Jane Manchun Wong talked about a possible feature that would allow us to escape conversations on Twitter. Now once again Manchun Wong was correct..
At the moment, only is available to a limited number of users, and only in the web version. Of course, it is to be expected that the social network will end up including the proposal also in its applications for Android, iOS and iPadOS; so we should see it soon on all devices.
