According to data published by Twitter, the company has suspended a total of 11,230 accounts and removed nearly 100,000 pieces of content since January 2020.
Last week, the owner of Twitter, Elon Musk surveyed users on whether to offer a “general amnesty” to suspended accounts that “have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam.” After a majority of users voted in favor, Musk announced that he will start reinstating suspended accounts this week.
According to information published by Platformer, Musk is in the process of regaining around 62,000 accounts with more than 10,000 followers, including one account that has more than 5 million followers and 75 accounts with more than 1 million followers. It’s unclear if Musk will restore the 11,230 accounts that have been suspended due to posting misinformation about covid.
