It’s official: Twitter will be renamed X. This has been confirmed by Elon Musk, who in October 2022 acquired the social network with the aim of creating a kind of “all-in-one” platform where, in addition to sharing publications, we can make payments, see news and carry out other procedures.
At the moment, Elon Musk has been sharing different posts on his Twitter profile related to the name change, such as the arrival of a new logo for the social network, which will remove the popular blue bird for an X with a black background. The tycoon confirmed yesterday that it will be launched “throughout the day”; probably first in America.
Musk reiterated this change in a Twitter Spaces session in which he was silent for a long time. He further noted that they were “cutting the Twitter logo out of the building with torches” to replace it with an X.
The owner of Twitter has also confirmed that x.com I will now redirect to twitter.com. And, as stated The Verge, the tycoon even sent an email to his employees assuring that this was the last email they received with the name and design that we currently know. These are changes that, in reality, do not come as a surprise, since we have known for a long time that Twitter, as a company, was renamed X corp.
Linda Yacarino, who is CEO of Twitter, has been in charge of sharing a preview of all the news that could come with the name change. The executive claims that X will be “focused on audio, video, messaging, payments and banking”, with the aim of “creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services and opportunities”. It also highlights that the new platform will be driven by AI. “There is absolutely no limit to this transformation. X will be the platform that can offer, well… everything”, he underlined in a tweet.
For the moment, yes We will not know when these news will arrive at X, hitherto known as Twitter, since both Elon Musk and Yacarino have only confirmed the immediate arrival of the new logo. In fact, both profiles on the platform show that they are accounts affiliated with X. The official Twitter account on the social network has also changed its name and logo, although its username is still @twitter.
