Good news for Twitter Blue subscribers. Starting today, you can already publish tweets with up to 4,000 charactersthe largest limit that the social network has introduced in its history.
When Twitter took its first steps, posts couldn’t exceed 140 characters. Later, during 2017, that limit grew to 280which at the moment remains valid for all those who are not yet subscribed to the aforementioned service.
However, with the arrival of Elon Musk, the social network considered setting a new limit: 4,000 characters, a significant increase compared to the previous figure. For what purpose? Twitter has become one of the most important communication platforms on the internet, which has caused some people require more than one post to break the full story.
Although the threads were the “solution” to that problem, it has never been the most intuitive way to consume information. In fact, some people were turning to third-party tools to convert the thread into a unified text and make it easier to read.
Elon Musk and his managers became aware of the situation and decided to launch a proposal that would improve that experience. Below you can see for yourself what the first tweet with more than 240 characters looks like.
However, it doesn’t make much sense for its use to be exclusive to Twitter Blue subscribers, especially since most users still haven’t jumped on the service bandwagon. In fact, Twitter Blue is not yet available in many countries around the world. In Spain it barely saw the light the week before. You can subscribe by paying 8 euros per month (11 if you do it from the iOS or Android app).
